Medicines like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro are increasingly common in everyday clinical practice. They appear in commercials, on TikTok, in celebrity interviews, and in everyday conversation. Although they are all around us, the impact of these drugs is real: for many patients, GLP-1 therapy has brought significant changes, helping to better control blood sugar levels, regulate appetite, and lose weight.
There is a lot of talk about the benefits of GLP-1 drugs in scientific studies and clinical trials in humans, but side effects are much less common. Some side effects are physical, some are emotional, and some completely catch you off guard once you’re already using the therapy. For many patients, the downsides of therapy never make it into the glorified “success” stories.
So we want to hear it from you: If you use or have used GLP-1 medications, what side effects were something that no source warned you about in advance? For example, you may have been surprised by prolonged nausea, severe fatigue, or complete unpredictability of symptoms from week to week.
Maybe food has suddenly lost its meaning, hunger has disappeared, tastes have changed, and eating has become something you do habitually as a duty. There may have been changes in your body that you did not expect, including hair loss, muscle loss, or skin changes. Some rapid physical changes probably also affected psychological health, such as mood, anxiety, or attitude towards one’s own body.

Maybe your social life has also changed: avoiding meals with others, discomfort due to small food intake, or the feeling that you constantly have to explain yourself. The most unexpected part of the experience is often not even medical, but the way people started looking at you differently after your body changed.
GLP-1 drugs can be extremely useful and truly life-changing, but they are also a powerful therapeutic option. That’s why it’s crucial to talk about the whole experience, not just the embellished parts that are common. People deserve to know the full, honest picture before they start using it.
That’s why we invite you to share your honest experience: What is an under-reported side effect of GLP-1 therapy?
