Naturally, there are thousands of reasons why people want to lose weight, and all of them are very personal. However, when you are a celebrity, your choices and decisions to change your body and appearance often come in front of the public eye as well. In recent days, several celebrities have opted to talk about their changes in appearance and what led them to make these changes.
Celebrities like Jelly Roll, Kelly Clarkson, Kathy Bates, John Goodman, and Adele have all talked about rumors surrounding their changes in weight, and in some cases, they have even talked about what they did to achieve these changes. In some cases, they have even talked about the use of medications like Mounjaro and Ozempic that help in weight loss.
In the following paragraphs, let’s try to understand what celebrities have to say about their changes in appearance and how they feel now.
Jelly Roll
Jelly Roll’s weight loss journey started in 2022 when he weighed 540 pounds. In April 2025, he said he had lost about 200 pounds and hoped to lose another 100.
“For people who haven’t lived that life, I’ll put it simply, to do a lot of fun things, you’ve got to be under 250,” Jelly Roll said when he appeared as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. “I want to skydive. I want to get on roller coasters. I want to ride a bull.”
Jelly Roll has been candid about how he has lost weight. “I’ve tried to make it sound cooler, but I can’t,” He said. “I’m eating a lot of protein, a lot of vegetables and walking. That’s it.” He also trained for a 5K and created a Facebook group to encourage others to join him.
“I want to be on the cover of Men’s Health by March 2026,” Jelly Roll said in 2024 when he appeared as a guest on his wife Bunnie XO’s podcast. This was the first time he publicly shared his goal. “That’s my new target. I want one of the biggest transformations.”
Jelly Roll’s weight loss journey continues, and he was spotted in Australia on October 21 looking almost unrecognizable. “Pray for my bank account,” Jelly Roll joked after buying Louis Vuitton items in his new size.
Ed Sheeran
After becoming a dad, Ed Sheeran realized it was time to change his lifestyle regarding his health and fitness. According to Men’s Health UK, the singer opened up about his journey.
“I want to be able to handle the night shifts,” he said. “It all kind of lined up with wanting to be a good dad, but also wanting to feel good about myself too.”
The singer then decided to celebrate his journey by posing shirtless for the magazine.
The singer also opened up about his journey on Instagram, saying, “Never thought I’d be someone who does this, but here we are. Ten years ago, I was drinking loads of beer, eating kebabs, and smoking. Having kids made me drop those habits, no pun intended, so I went all in on fitness and wellness.”
Chrissy Metz
The actress showed off her new look at the Variety Power of Women event in May 2025. The actress had been working towards losing almost 100 pounds, something she had talked about earlier that year.
“I want to age in the healthiest way possible, and I want to feel strong,” the actress said about what prompted her journey.
The actress also talked about the importance of strength training as part of the process, as well as the importance of medication as part of the process, saying, “It’s deeply personal. I think removing the shame around it is important. At the end of the day, everyone is just trying to feel good in their own body.”
Whoopi Goldberg
During her appearance on The View to talk about an ABC special produced by Oprah Winfrey about weight loss medications, Goldberg revealed that she too has experienced considerable weight loss with the help of Mounjaro.
“I’ll be honest, I was close to 300 pounds when I made Till,” Goldberg said, referring to the 2022 film in which Goldberg both starred and produced. Goldberg said that the reality of her weight hadn’t sunk in until one day when she saw herself and said, “Wow, that’s a lot of me.”
Goldberg also said that people should be more empathetic when dealing with changes in their weight. She said, “Maybe what we really need is to stop judging everyone. My weight has gone up and down over the years, but it’s never been anything that I’ve obsessed over because I don’t take in any of that. Everybody’s got something to say, but nobody ever asks you how you are.”
Post Malone
After becoming a father in 2022, Post Malone decided to focus more on his health. The musician reportedly lost 55 pounds, going from 240 pounds to 185 pounds. This was revealed by Post Malone in June 2024 when he appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience.

Malone said that his weight loss wasn’t done by using any medications. Instead, he decided to eat better while touring. This included quitting soda altogether.
Remi Bader
In response to critics who said she was taking the “easy way out” by choosing bariatric surgery, Remi Bader was vocal. This came when she posted a workout video after her surgery and addressed the critics.

“Never let anyone tell you surgery is the easy option,” Remi said. “I worked hard to get here, and I’m incredibly proud of myself.”
Remi Bader, who initially gained fame for body confidence and curve fashion, later spoke with Self Magazine about the emotional journey of losing weight. “I loved being curvy for most of my life. It was part of who I was,” Remi said. “I’ve always believed you can be in a bigger body and still be healthy and happy. I truly was for a long time. But eventually, something shifted, and I wasn’t anymore.”
She went on to say how she felt disconnected from herself at various times throughout her journey. “At first, I wasn’t considered plus-size enough. Then I was suddenly too big for some of the brands. Now I’m told I’m too small,” Remi said. “Honestly, I don’t even know where I fit anymore.”
Oprah Winfrey
After decades of dealing with public pressure and scrutiny about her weight, media mogul Oprah Winfrey revealed that she has turned to a mix of lifestyle modifications and weight loss medications to get to a point where she feels healthy and stable. Her weight loss journey started when she had surgery on her knees and changed her diet and exercise regimen. However, she later revealed that medications were also instrumental in breaking the cycle of weight loss and weight regain that she had been through in the past.
“I realized I’d spent years blaming myself,” she told People magazine. “I have a biological predisposition that sheer willpower can’t override. Obesity is a medical condition. It’s not a character flaw.”
She further revealed that having access to medications that were approved by the medical community and that helped her manage her weight was liberating and even redeeming. “Having access to a prescription that supports weight management feels like relief , even redemption,” she said. “I’m done with the shame, both from others and from myself.”
In her People magazine cover story published in 2026, Oprah revealed that she had tried to wean herself off the medications when she turned 70, only to regain 20 pounds in the next year. “This is something I’ll need to manage long term,” she said. “Just like blood pressure medication , when you stop taking it, the issue returns. I’ve learned that this is part of how I stay healthy.”
“That alone helped me lose 20 pounds,” Post said. “Once I saw that progress, I thought, why stop? We just kept going and building from there.”
Whitney Leavitt
Whitney Leavitt achieved her best level of performance while competing on season 34 of Dancing with the Stars, although her weight fluctuations have been evident to the public eye prior to this. The star of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has been candid with her fans about trying various things since having children, including Weight Watchers, which she had to stop because of problems associated with her hypothyroidism, and a GLP-1, which she stopped taking because of unwanted side effects.
Currently, Whitney Leavitt has revealed on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast that, for her, “macro counting” has been the biggest contributor to her success in her weight loss journey.
Macro counting is the process of keeping track of the amount of protein, carbs, and fat consumed daily. “It’s a lot,” she explained, “but I actually enjoy it.”
Eric Stonestreet
Eric Stonestreet was diagnosed with diabetes around the same time he was cast to play Cam on the popular TV show Modern Family, although he initially downplayed the severity of his situation. He eventually admitted to feeling ashamed about his health and hiding “injectables and pills” from his future wife, Lindsay Schweitzer, for several years of their relationship.
It was the passing of his father, who also had diabetes, that marked a turning point in Stonestreet’s life. “He passed from leukemia, but what caused him the most pain was diabetic neuropathy,” Stonestreet told People magazine. “I knew I couldn’t follow that same path.”
Stonestreet also said that the thought of not being there for his twin sons with Schweitzer, whom he has helped raise since they were toddlers, was another factor in his decision to make lifestyle changes. “Like any parent, I want to be here,” he said.
In 2022, Stonestreet started using Mounjaro. “It’s been a game changer,” he said. “It’s changed how I eat, how I move, and how I think about my health.” While he said that medication is part of his regimen, he said that he has to continue to make lifestyle changes to sustain his health.
